I bought a Treo 800w in August 2008 and signed a 2-year contract. I use it for my business and NEED to use my phone for email and calendaring. I simply MUST have those two features with me (and have them working properly) when I am on the road--which is usually 3-4 days per week.
I noticed a few glitches during the first 60 days but was willing to overlook them, because I was excited about my phone and all of its features. Then things really went south. The Treo 800w started locking up and the only way to get it restarted was to physically pull the battery and have the phone reboot--which takes about a minute. A minute may not seem like a long time but when a room full of 20 people are all staring at you, waiting for you to say whether a date works for you or not, a minute is an eternity!! The 800w also started randomly not sending or receiving emails. Emails I sent would arrive 2-3 WEEKS (yes, I said WEEKS) after I sent them. Incoming emails were the same way!! Argghhh! My GPS with turn-by-turn directions just stopped working altogether. And then there are the random malfunctions that have no pattern--like after rebooting, the Treo 800w decided not to acknowledge my hands-free device in my car! After pulling the phone battery outside the range of the hands-free device, the phone started playing nice again. If I have my ringer on and hook up the phone to a wall charger, the phone actually de-charges! Really. I've run a bunch of experiments and I can only charge the phone if the ringer is off. Go figure. But, each day begins by me pulling the battery. If I am lucky I can get through a day with only one freeze-up, but often it's two.
Then there's the billing. My bookkeeper pays bills as they come in. There's no waiting until the end of the month. One day I tried to use my phone and my service has been cancelled due to non-payment!! I got back to the office and was ready to fire my bookkeeper, but she showed me a bunch of cancelled checks and a stack of "late notices" from Sprint. Even though my bookkeeper had been paying faithfully and Sprint was cashing the checks, Sprint somehow was not giving me credit for payments made!! And then they shut off my phone!!
All the while I had been calling, begging, pleading, for some sort of help from Sprint. And you know what their "solution" was? Get this: Buy and new phone and sign a new 2-year contract! Seriously! Can you believe that?!
My experience with Sprint PCS has been a nightmare! It has been the biggest waste of my time and money ever! Don't waste your time and money--run, don't walk, from Sprint!
