For anyone that's looking for a new cell phone company DO NOT, go with Sprint. Let me tell you my story. I called sprint on March 5, 2008, to order the "Mogel"... When i spokw with the rep she advised me that i waould receive my phone in 24 hours. I called back on March 10,2008. I was informed by the rep that the phone was on back order, and she's not for sure when i would get my phone, so at that time i canceld my order with them. I told them not to send the phone, and i wanted a refund. The rep canceld the order and told me that i would have my refund in 24 hours... Here today is March 24, 2008... and i still haven't received my refund. I spoke with them again and their telling me i still have to wait 7-10 business days for my refund... This has been a nightmare. Sprint need to get it together.

Date of post: 3/23/2008 4:49:42 AM Subject: iDEN Notwork Posted by: anonymous
I forgot to include in my previous post...
When I signed up for Nextel they advertised their iDEN network as being WiDEN (quad iDEN) and "near broadband speeds". Turns out there really was no WiDEN available, and it was actually "near dialup speeds". Equivelant to about a 28k dialup, but reasonably reliable. As soon as Sprint Pretty Crappy Service took over it is now about equivelant to 300 baud dialup speed downstream and 150 baud upstream (on a good day), and VERY unreliable. Frequently there is no throughput for long periods, web pages time out and give "server not found" errors, if I click "reload" enough times pages will eventually load... usually. Lots of "dns not found" errors now that didn't used to happen with Nextel, so I have to disconnect and redial in before I can access anything.
iDEN now under Sprint PCS is "barely" usable for email, and basicly useless for most web surfing. Most web pages take minimum 5 minutes to load. Don't even "think" about trying to load any pages on sites like myspace. I have no idea how long they would take to fully load.. I have let it load up a half hour before I got bored to tears, and it was still loading when I aborted.
I don't know how Sprint PCS plans to stay in business. I don't know of ANYONE that is happy with their services.

I figured out what PCS stands for!
"Pretty Crappy Services" or if you're trying to be nice about it, "Pretty Crummy Services".
Almost a year ago I switched to Nextel after having Verizon for a year. With Verizon my most uttered (or often screamed) words were "can you hear me now?". No one could understand me, and I couldn't understand them. And I constantly had dropped calls. When I switched to Nextel on my first call I was amazed how crystal clear it was, and I had a good constant 4 to 5 signal. When I'm at home my phone sits in a charging cradle, near a window, and I use a bluetooth headset, so I'm not walking around with the phone causing dropped calls. I was quite happy with Nextel, I had a few dropped calls now and then.. I live in a fairly remote area so can't expect a perfect signal all the time. My calls were always crystal clear though. Then Sprint PCS bought Nextel and all of a sudden I had 1 to 0 (no carrier) signal. I spent about $300 on a duel-band amplifier and outdoor antenna. That got me back up to a 4 to 5 signal. But it still constantly dropped carrier, even with a 5 signal. The audio was/is all crackly and often gets digital sounding like a robot, or goes silent for from a few seconds up to about three minutes, thought it's still connected and has carrier. It constantly loses carrier, I redial and get to talk sometimes a few minutes, sometimes only a few seconds before it loses carrier again.. even with a 5 signal. And quite often I get a "Network Busy" error when trying to redial.
What really ticks me off is I signed a year contract with Nextel, NOT with Sprint PCS. But when I inquired about terminating my account because their service DOESN'T WORK I was told I would have to pay them $200.
I used to always pay my bill every month on the Nextel web site, no problem. As soon as Sprint PCS took over, all of a sudden I couldn't access the web site AT ALL. I'm using my cell phone for internet using iDEN, and apparently Sprint PCS "blocked" my Nextel IP address from accessing their web site. I found if I went through a proxy, so they couldn't tell it was a Nextel IP trying to pay their bill, I could access the Sprint PCS web site. But the site is so buggy that even though I could access the site through a proxy, I still couldn't get my bill paid. So I had to resort to paying my bill through snail nail and a check, and ended up having to pay a late fee the first month because of it.
At first I thought it was just me.. maybe my phone was going bad or somthing. Till I talked with a few friends that had Nextel from various places across the U.S. Every one of them has the same exact problems I'm having with dropped carriers, terrible audio quality, can't access the web site and if they can it doesn't work. So, I know it's not just me or my location. It's Sprint Pretty Crappy Service. Most of them have opted to pay the $200 extorsion money to get out of their contract so they could get a service that works.
Just last week searching the web I found a site with a few Sprint PCS dial codes that help; *3 = Pay Bill (and it even works!), and *4 = Minutes Remaining (which their website never would tell me.)
Next month my Nextel contract finally expires and I can't WAIT to get rid of this useless Sprint PCS and get a phone I can actually make a phone call on again.

FYI: I usually counted on being able to call in for the periodic "Credit for dropped call." Sprint PCS phones USED to be able to log 4 per day, 20 per billing cycle @ $0.50 per credit. That's $10.00 credit per phone per month. If you have 3 (me + Wife + Other) that represents as much as $30 per month credit for frequently dropped calls. The NEW BILLING SYSTEM NO LONGER CREDITS FOR DROPPED CALLS!! MINUTES ARE ADDED INSTEAD! Reps do not know about the change so my questions were never really answered. I guess it's a legal matter. Does this fly in the face of PUC regulation agreements?? If so, this is a CLASS ACTION Waiting to Happen. Any lawyers out there willing to create a site for users to join?? Please post and I will add my name!

Date of post: 3/12/2008 7:18:11 AM Subject: Trying to Port # Over Posted by: anonymous
Wanted phone for my 72 year old mother on my account. I've been s Sprint PCS customer since 1999 and never really had a problem so thought getting her on my account would be easy.
She had been using a Virgin Mobile pay as you go phone. Went to sprint store. Waited 30 minutes for sales rep although it looked to me like employees were standing around and the store was pretty much empty. Told rep we needed phone to add to my account and wanted to port over mom's old # (it's the same network so shouldn't be problem right????) No problem, says rep. can have it done by this afternoon. We go back to pick up phone with ported number. Hasn't been done. Rep no where to be found. Against better judgment we take phone. Manager tells us port will be completed by next day. No problem. 15 phone calls to India or wherever the hell they get their call center employees I've heard every crap excuse in the book and still no ported number. Each time I get a new excuse of why it hasn't been done. The last one was because I have a gov't employee discount on my phone, their regular customer service couldn't handle my problem, I had to call a special number. Yeah right! If this is true, and I doubt it is, couldn't ya have told me this 14 phone calls ago? If they couldn't port the number over, they should have told us up front.
In the meantime, they have also f'ed up my mom's Virgin mobile account so she doesn't have a mobile phone to carry with her when she leaves the house.
The only thing Sprint PCS doesn't suck at is f'ing over their customers.

For the past 1 and a half I've been attempting to log into Sprints site so that I could resolve a past due account to keep my service active. Well they have implemented to new security system whereas all customers will have to updatee their info, so that thet thet access their account.
Unfortunatlet at this point, the system is loaded down with bugs so it is not working properly [This was confirmed on a 35 min call with a Supervison with their customer service division] The rep politley advises me, "we disconnected your service because of non-payment"
At this point Captain Obvious was advises me the service was disconneected because of non-payment. I advised him that it wasnt paid because they screwed up their website and it CANT BE ACCESSED. I [and many others like me]
rely on internet connectivity because we are located in places where telecom connectivity is limited. I am currently on assignment in the middle east. ALL OF MY BILLS are paid online. I proudly serve my country and get shitted on by a Company that is quick to cancel ytour service even though you have made an attmpt to take care of your bill. If it werent for the fact that I relay on the service to retrieve VM's from loved ones back in the US, I wouldve cancelled this cluster f*ck of a service long ago.
I've been with them for 8 yrs as a customer. I'll tell you this, I'm doing a number of things when I return to the States, But one of them is definitley cancelling this service.

I am just done with sprint. Ever since they bought Next-Hell they really went down the tubes. They have all these crappy charges for junk. 15 dollars for unlimited text. What a crock. I have the stupid internet on my phone but I still cant send pictures in my text because they specifically told me I could do that since I chopped off my left arm to pay for their service. Google is good. They want the 500mhz to be open to everyone. Screw these telecom companies they are all carpet baggers
